Human interactions can be incredibly uncomfortable…
Malcolm Kriegel was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He attended a specialized arts school in Manhattan where he received a vocational training in Technical theater. Upon graduating he moved to New Orleans to pursue his undergraduate studies at Tulane University’s Newcomb Art Department. In May of 2018, Malcolm graduated from there with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus in glass.
Kriegel has spent time furthering his knowledge of the glass medium, outside of the collegiate setting, in schools such as the Pilchuck Glass School, Urban Glass, YAYA, and at the Chrysler Museum. He spent time at the Pilchuck Glass School rebuilding their Hot Shop in the winter and spring of 2019. From Pilchuck, Kriegel went on to complete a six-month assistantship at the Chrysler Museum glass studio in Norfolk, Virginia ending in early 2020. He then completed a course at the IYRS School of Technology and Trades in Newport, RI where he is expanded his knowledge of digital modeling and fabrication. Before going on to work for Daniel Clayman, (a glass artist in Providence, RI) employing all of his knowledge from IYRS complete a scale model of a future project.
Kriegel has now come full circle, and is back in Brooklyn working at Urban Glass. There he functions as a studio technician and a Freelance glass artist.
